There’s a clock ticking in my head. Everywhere. All the time. At times, it comes in handy. I can tell when the 60 second round of Karate punching, kicking, crunches, or whatever is done within a second or two of the instructor using a digital timer. Right now it’s telling me things are about to change – make the most of every minute.
- Julie has just graduated high school. She’s headed for college and I’m missing her already. There’s lots to do to get ready for that new adventure.
- Liisa just got her driver’s license temps. It’s only a matter of time before she’s with her friends or boyfriend much of the time.
- My parents are visiting for the weekend. We got to see them briefly yesterday and as they age I find myself wondering how many more years we’ll be blessed with their company.
Like you, things are competing for my time and it’s a matter of recognizing priorities.
- Julie’s graduation party is coming up in less than a month. We’ve got to get the kitchen work done, spruce up the yard, and several other tasks around the house to get ready for company.
- I’ve got two business trips between now and the July 4th weekend.
- Liisa and I need to keep focused on Karate training so we can graduate this fall to second degree black belt.
- There’s always podcast work to be done – including pulling together the clips for our Parsec award nomination.
- Liisa would like to attend a different school this fall, so we’re doing some preliminary work on her first choice.
We’re about to head out on a family vacation to Door County Wisconsin as soon as the ladies all wake up and finish packing – it’s vacation – what’s the rush? It gives me a quiet moment on a Saturday morning in early summer to share my thoughts.
Yes, change is coming. It’s going to me emotional. It’s going to be exciting. It’s going to be scary. It’s going to be life.
BTW, If you didn’t see the pics on Facebook, check out the photos of Julie’s Sr. Stuff, and Spring 2011 from the Photos menu.
